Christmas Stollen is a bread-like fruitcake made with yeast, water and flour, and usually with dried citrus peel added to the dough. Many Savorique’s Artisan producers have received National media recognition from Oprah, Gourmet Magazine, New York Times and Saveur.
Christmas Stollen Bread
The custom of baking Christmas stollen is very old and came to Dresden in about 1450. Baked with pride by many European bakers, Frau Helga follows that same tradition by using only the finest quality ingredients. Completely hand made. Raisins and fruits are soaked in pure Caribbean rum, mixed with 100% butter dough, baked to perfection and respect and topped with cinnamon sugar.
Every year in Dresden a Stollenfest takes place. A large stollen is baked and a carriage takes it in a parade through the streets of Dresden to the Christmas market, where it is ceremoniously cut into pieces and distributed among the crowd, for a small sum which goes to charity. The Christmas stollen, originally called the “Struzel” or “Striezel”, is there and has lent its name to the market since.
Low Prices a 2 lb. Stollen is only $19.90
